LiveWell Bent County and friends held a highway cleanup throughout the town of Las Animas last week. There were six adults and several children participating. The adults cleaned up the adopted highway through town and the kids scattered at the Sonny Smith Ballpark and cleaned up the grounds.

Last minute preparations are nearly complete for the Otero Junior College Foundation's inaugural Off the Wall Art Show and Auction, which will be held in conjunction with the Otero Museum's wine tasting event at 218 Anderson St. in La Junta on May 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This weekend the Run for the Wall, which is a cross-country motorcycle run starting in California and picking up riders all across the U.S. as they go along, will be stopping in La Junta around noon on May 18.
