Coming back from spring-break a surprise will await the students of McClave preschool. This date marks the opening of the new preschool. The completion of this project will bring all of the McClave school district into the same facility. As school superintendent Terry Weber put it, “The preschool really puts an exclamation point on the construction projects around the school. The district is very excited to have everyone under one roof.”

The layout of the new building has some distinct differences from the old preschool. The format of the building will allow the staff to keep an eye on the children, no matter where the students are in the facility. The preschool director, Darla Goble, describes this layout as one of the best improvements. The new building is customized to benefit the children in every possible way. Everything from the restrooms to the lockers is child sized.

While it will great to be in a brand new facility, there are lots of other benefits that will accompany this new addition. The foremost of which is the ability of the preschool to become qualistar rated. Qualistar rating is a way to compare preschools across Colorado. The highest possible rating is four stars. This is based on an evaluation of the following criteria: learning environment, family partnership, staff training and education, adult to child ratios, and accreditation. The time at which the school will be assessed is currently pending, but it is being paid for by a grant which the preschool received. Here at McClave, the staff and students are excited for this new addition and there will be an open house for the community as soon as the construction is finished.
