Where does the season go? After this week the Lady Trojans will be playoff bound as will every team in the state. From pig-tail playoffs to the first round of the districts, Regionals, and State, the Lady Trojans are making the last tweaks in their game to make a run in the 2011 playoffs.

This past Thursday the Ladies traveled to Fowler to continue their campaign against Fowler. In the past, the games have been close until the end when the Lady Trojans have pulled away. This game was different.

In the first quarter, the Lady Trojans began by outscoring the Lady Grizzlies 14-7. After a less than pleasing second quarter, the score at the half was 21-19 in favor of the Lady Trojans.

From then on, it was all Las Animas as they built on their lead in each quarter in the second half. In the end, the Lady Trojans were victorious yet again against Fowler.

Savannah Bewley and Kelly Aparicio each contributed 11 points to the Trojan cause, and Allie Brown added six rebounds. Alexandria Alvidrez had eight steals on the evening in an altogether solid evening for the Lady Trojans.

In percentages, the Lady Trojans were 77 percent from the free throw line. This is a statistic that has the plagued the Lady Trojans all season, and has been key in their three losses. This improvement over the season will help them in the long run with more challenging teams.

After the pleasing performance on Thursday night, the Lady Trojans had a day to rest before they took on Burlington. The Lady Cougars, infamous to the Lady Trojans for continuously lowering Trojan seeding in tournaments and knocking the Lady Trojans out of the district volleyball tournament, traveled to Las Animas on Saturday.

This game was far different than what the Lady Cougars expected. From the jump at the beginning of the game, the game was dominated by the Lady Trojans. At the end of the first quarter, Lady Trojans were up 12-10, but at the half, their lead had extended to 12 points: 33-21.

The second half was closer for the Lady Cougars as they outscored the Lady Trojans in the third by one point but were again outscored in the fourth by 6. In the end, an excited Lady Trojan squad emerged victorious 55-38.

Aparicio had a tremendous game and led the Lady Trojans with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Bewley added 16, and Anjelica Alvidrez had six steals.
