Regular volleyball season ends

The Lady Trojans faced tough opponents in the Lady Thunderbolts of Rye and the Lady Grizzlies of Fowler on Oct. 16 and 18, the last week for regular season volleyball play.

On Oct. 16, the Lady Trojans hosted the Lady Thunderbolts, and to start it seemed like it was going to be a rather one-sided outcome. The first game belonged to the Lady Thunderbolts by a score of 25-16. The second game saw the Lady Trojans battle back and tie the score and then came away with a 26-24 win – and from there it was all Lady Trojans. With unmatched wins in the last two games, 25-19 and 26-24, the Lady Trojans knocked off the Lady Thunderbolts.

Haley Martinez led the Lady Trojans in kills with 14 and Caitlin Johnson added 8 kills to aid the Trojans in their victory over Rye.

Two days later, the Lady Trojans hosted the Lady Grizzlies of Fowler and the match went to five games. The first two belonged to the Lady Trojans by scores of 25-22 and 25-17.

After the two losses, the Lady Grizzlies came back and came back with a vengeance winning the next three games 21-25, 9-25, and 5-15 to win the final home match of the regular season.

In this match, Johnson led the Ladies with 9 kills and Martinez followed with 8.
