The Colorado Aviation Business Association (CABA) landed in Las Animas Sunday, Dec 6, bringing 120 pounds of toys and 400 pounds of canned food for our community with an emphasis on veterans' needs. CABA was the chosen project of the State Commander of the VFW, Pete Buchannan.

Las Animas was one of the five chosen locations of the program. Alamosa, Pueblo, Montrose, and Burlington were the other chosen spots. Three of the 12 planes that left Denver were sent to Las Animas, manned by six pilots, most of them students of Metropolitan State University of Denver aviation program and members of the Precision Flight Team that took first place this year.

Pat Diamond, an executive seasoned pilot also co-piloted one of the planes. Community volunteers from VFW Post #2411 and Auxiliary, Helping Hands and Basement Angel Tree Project came out to unload the toys and food.
