AVRMC has a diverse staff of Respiratory Therapists and Neurology Therapists skilled and experienced to handle the disruptions of these systems. Together, AVRMC has a combined expertise of over 350 years in hospital service and education.

Services offered at AVRMC, are multidisciplinary and progressive. AVRMC offers the ability to treat, improve or transfer patients to higher levels of care based on evaluation, testing and physical examination. We serve our population from infants to the most advanced aged population.

Code Blue TEAM members: Which is the most severe of medical emergency. We attend every CODE, do CPR and draw arterial blood for vital oxygenation evaluation. Mechanical ventilation: We establish and maintain lifesaving breathing via machine. Nebulizer treatments: We deliver medication to open airways and release mucus trapped in airways. Oxygen: We provide oxygen to supplement a patient during time of need; post surgery, pneumonia, croup, COPD and heart patients are a few conditions of many that benefit from oxygen. COPD Education: We spend extra time to provide education and awareness for the patients, the families and the caregivers. Smoking Cessation: All patients are offered smoking education whether it is for firsthand, secondhand or third-hand smoke. EKG and Holter monitors: We have the ability to record the heart electrical system. Routine or pre-surgical evaluation are very common. Cardiac stress testing: Treadmill and chemical cardiac evaluation sometime in coordination with nuclear medicine or ultrasound. Pulmonary Function: Total lung volume measurement and ability to measure pulmonary carbon dioxide diffusement. Polysomnography: Sleep studies evaluate patients at risk for sleep apnea and treat for the three types of apnea. Sleep study can be done in the hospital; for some, our portable home unit is appropriate. EEG: Brain wave recording, used primarily for seizure disorders.  MWT or MSLT: Specialized testing for advanced sleep/wake disorders that often interfere with driving and work performance. Highly specialized. RSV/FLU/PERTUSSIS: Nasal swabbings, to determine if a pathogen is present.


Our professional staff is required to maintain BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and licensure. Many have additional training and certificates. We are educated, compassionate and an integral part of this multidisciplinary team that are ready to provide high quality, respectful and compassionate health care services to individuals and families in southeastern Colorado.
