A Celebration of Life for longtime Bent County resident and lifetime McClave United Methodist Church member, Lola McElroy, was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at the Peacock Family Chapel with Lou Anderson officiating. Interment followed at the McClave Cemetery.
Lola was born on Sept. 5, 1929, at McClave, Colorado, to Eli Franklin and Eva Marie (Coleborn) Spitzer and passed away at the home of her daughter while under Hospice Care on Jan. 10, 2017, at the age of 87.
Mrs. McElroy was preceded by her husband, Ifred McElroy, her parents; siblings, Harold Spitzer, Lloyd Spitzer, Robert Spitzer, Richard Spitzer, Mary Chatham and Clyde Spitzer.
She is survived by her children, Ray Allen (Marcella) McElroy of Johnson, Kansas, Helen Marie (John) McElroy-Carr of Chesapeake, Virginia, Connie Sue (Steven) McElroy-Woodrum of Longmont, Colorado, Terrie Lynn (Donald) McElroy-Trujillo of Las Animas, Colorado, and Britt Lee (Melissa) McElroy of Fort Morgan, Colorado; grandchildren, Brian Woodrum, Justin Carr, Donald Trujillo, Robin Trujillo, Karen Woodrum, Megan McElroy-Williamson, Ryan McElroy, Natasha McElroy, Alex McElroy, Jarod Grubbs and Zachariah McElroy; great-grandchildren, Johnathan Carr, Emelin Williamson, Marin Williamson, Jameson McElroy, Macallan McElroy, Orlando Drake and Oliver Drake. She is also survived by her siblings, Harry (Flossie) Spitzer of Lamar, Colorado, Edward Spitzer of Walsenburg, Colorado, Thelma Schibbelhut of Holly, Colorado, and Norma Lou Boggio of Lamar, Colorado. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas Valley Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
