Like the Lady Trojans, the week after Christmas break was a long one for the Las Animas Trojans. Schedules rarely require playing three games in a week except for the winter tournament, but the Trojans played Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday last week; all in Santa Fe League matches.

On Tuesday against Hoehne, the Trojans came out flat; allowing the Farmers to gain an insurmountable lead in the first half. After halftime, the Trojans tried to come back, won the second half, but the come-back wasn't enough as the Farmers emerged victorious. Scores and stats are unavailable due to a technical difficulty.

Friday, the Trojans faced Fowler, and gave up a big lead in the first quarter yet again: 5-26. They tried to claw back scoring as many as 16 in the fourth quarter, but in the end it wasn't enough. The Trojans fell 48-67.

Finally, the Trojans faced league rivals the Swink Lions on Saturday. It was a high scoring barnburner as the Trojans and Lions duked it out on the hardwood, but the home court proved to be the advantage as the Lions narrowly escaped the Trojans 63-66.

This week is Winter Sports Week in Las Animas. The Trojans face the Panthers of John Mall in Walsenburg at 5 p.m. Then, on Saturday, the Ladies host the Swallows Academy Spartans. Game time on Saturday is 2 p.m.
