On Friday night against Walsenburg, the Trojans fell 60-79 to an up-and-coming John Mall squad.

This past week was Winter Sports week for the Las Animas Trojans. After a week of dress-up days centered on the theme "Candyland," a pep assembly, and an away match in Walsenburg, the Trojans were ready to defend their home turf on Saturday night.

On Friday night against Walsenburg, the Trojans fell 60-79 to an up-and-coming John Mall squad. Brandon Morlan led the Trojans in this campaign with 16 points, 21 rebounds and four blocks. From the free throw line, the Trojans were an impressive 10/14 as a team. From behind the 3-point arc, the Trojans struggled. In this game they were 8/23.

The following night, the Trojans defended their home court against the Swallows Charter Academy Spartans. The Trojans came out strong, as did the Spartans. The Trojans, led again by Brandon Morlan who amassed 16 points and 18 rebounds, kept a scrappy attitude and maintained their composure in a close match. Their composure resulted in a Trojan Winter Sports win as they toppled the Spartans 59-53.

This week the Trojans host the Chargers of Crowley County on Friday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m., and then travel to Rocky Ford to face the Meloneers on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m.
