The Otero Junior College Foundation will host the fourth annual “Celebrating Excellence in Health Gala,” on April 19 at 6 p.m. in the OJC Student Center Banquet Room. This event, designed to honor those working in all health care practice areas, benefits OJC students pursuing careers in healthcare fields through the Kay Mahoney Memorial/Kaiser Permanente Healthcare Scholarship fund.

Mary C. Kelly, PhD, CSP, Commander, U.S. Navy (retired) will serve as the keynote speaker. Raised in Texas, Kelly is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and spent over 20 years on active duty in intelligence and logistics. Kelly has master’s degrees in history and economics and has a PhD in economics and over 20 years combined experience teaching economics, finance, history and management. The bestselling author of "Master Your World," Kelly offers key insights into the world of leadership and productivity. Her goal is to make leadership fun and fulfilling.

“We are so excited to have Dr. Kelly as this year’s speaker. She is sure to provide inspiration to all who attend,” said Sue Samaniego, OJC Foundation director. “Remember, tickets are available for anyone who would like to attend; from community members to business leaders to direct health caregivers. We all have a stake in developing our future healthcare providers and celebrating the work of those currently in the many fields under the healthcare umbrella. Our event gives an opportunity to do both.”

Included in the evening will be a full dinner, an auction, basket raffles and more. In addition to many other items in the auction, Dr. Kelly will have two sets of book packages that will include "Master Your World: 10 Dog-Inspired Leadership Lessons to Improve Productivity, Profits, and Communication," "Money Smart: How Not To Buy Cat Food When You Don't Have a Cat," "15 Ways to Grow Your Business in Every Economy," "360 Degrees of Leadership," and her latest book, "Why Leaders Fail and the 7 Prescriptions for Success," plus the Master Your World Manual and Stop the Barking manuals and a coaching package that includes all of these resources, plus the 5-Minute series and 90 minutes of leadership coaching/productivity consulting.

There are three sponsorship levels for the event: Platinum ($750), which includes eight dinner tickets, 24 free basket chance tickets and a special thank you gift; Gold ($500), which includes eight dinner tickets and 16 free basket chance tickets; and Silver ($250), which includes four dinner tickets and 8 free basket chance tickets. Sponsors will also have their names printed in the evening’s program and other printed materials.
