La Junta High School student Ana Mathews will conduct and produce Picketwire’s oral history venture March 19 and April 9.

We all have stories to tell, stories we have lived. We organize the memories of our lives into stories. Picketwire Players are conducting oral histories as we prepare for our 50th Anniversary in 2018. We invite former and current Players to join us on two different Sunday afternoons so we can record your stories as oral history. Come to Picketwire (802 San Juan Avenue in La Junta) on March 19 or April 9 between 2 and 4 p.m. to tell us your experiences and stories about your life at Picketwire.

Historians are recognizing that the memories of everyday people have historical importance. Picketwire realizes that if we do not collect and preserve these memories – these stories – then one day they will disappear forever.

Fortunately, La Junta High School student Ana Mathews will conduct and produce Picketwire’s oral history venture. Combining her Gifted and Talented school project with archiving Picketwire’s history was a serendipitous coincidence. Your stories and the stories of the people around you are unique, valuable treasures for Picketwire and our community. So, please join us on March 19 or April 9 between 2 and 4 p.m. so that we can record your story. We look forward to your participation.
