The Las Animas Trojans took the field four times this week against both Fowler and Granada. Those in attendance were treated to two Trojan victories, one in each venue.

On April 11, the Trojans traveled to Granada to face the Bobcats in a doubleheader. The Trojans struck first and often. Though the game went the distance – seven innings – the Trojans ended with a 12-run victory: 12-1.

In the second game, the Trojans struggled to get on the board. They failed to score a single run and lost 0-5.

Later in the week – April 15 – in Las Animas, the Trojans hosted the Fowler Grizzlies. In the first game, the Trojans scored five quick points in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 5-0 lead, and then they were forced to hang on. The Grizzlies scored two points in each of the next two innings, but they didn’t rally hard enough to defeat the Trojans – The Trojans won 5-4.

In the next game, the Trojans and Grizzlies had essentially the same game, only opposite. The Grizzlies struck first scoring nine in the first five innings, and the Trojans, having only scored three, were forced in to the rally position. They only scored two over the next two innings. Sadly, the Trojans fell in the second game 5-9.

This week, the Trojans travel to Walsenburg on Tuesday, April 18, and then travel to Burlington on Monday, April 25.
