The VFW Auxiliary #2411 recently had a big reorganization with officers in their organization. They currently have 104 members and, for a small town, this is amazing. All the active members work hard to help others in our community, especially our veterans.

Pam Valdez stepped down after serving eight years as Post #2411 VFW Auxiliary President and Kathleen Tomlin graciously filled this position for 2017-18 year. Sandra Milenski stepped up to serve as Treasurer to replace Kathleen Tomlin, who had served 12 years as Treasurer. Cheri Montoya was elected as Senior Vice and Pam will serve as Junior Vice. Barbara Martin was re-appointed Secretary and she has served over six years.

The group continues to exceed all state and national expectations as they serve veterans at the local, state and national levels. They received many awards this summer at the State Convention in Colorado Springs competing against very large groups. Those able to attend the Convention in Colorado Springs this summer were Pam, Kathleen, Karen Prather and Bobbie Rains. Pam received the Outstanding District President Award and Kathleen received the All State Treasurer, Runner up.

The Auxiliary received the following awards: 100% membership plaque; 2nd place Legislative; Veterans & Family Support recognition, both state and national; Americanism – 2nd place; and Hospital 1st place. The veteran’s pin this year is “Operation Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Freedom.” If you are eligible to join this very active and worthwhile group, please contact Kathleen Tomlin at 456-2948 or Sandy Milenski at 468-1543.
