Back for this third season, Coach Jamez Lopez is more excited than he has been in a long time for Trojan football.
The Las Animas Trojan football squad has truly had an interesting summer. For the first time in years, the Trojans got to participate in a 5v5 tournament in Denver. This tournament, hosted by the Denver Broncos, invites teams from across the state to compete in class-specific brackets and compete for a tournament championship. Finishing second in their pool, the Trojans were only one win away from making the championship, which took place on the Broncos’ practice field.
Back for this third season, Coach Jamez Lopez is more excited than he has been in a long time for Trojan football. While they graduated five seniors at key positions, they have no seniors this year, and a boat load of juniors and underclassmen who will make a difference on the gridiron.
Fans will have few opportunities to see the Trojans in action this season. With only four home games of their nine scheduled games, fans should get to Jack LaSalle Field for each of those four games and cheer on their Trojans. The first game is at home on Aug. 25 against Miami-Yoder at 7 p.m.
