It will be another active week for most of the local high school winter sports teams.

La Junta basketball

The La Junta High School basketball teams will have just one game this weekend, but it will be the final home game of the regular season.

On Saturday, the Tigers and Lady Tigers will host Buena Vista. Games will take place at both Tiger Gym and the intermediate school gym. Games at Tiger Gym will have the girls' junior varsity at noon, followed by the girls' varsity at 1:30 p.m. and the boys' varsity at 3 p.m. At the intermediate school, the boys' JV plays at noon, the boys' C team at 1:30 p.m. and the girls' C team at 3 p.m.

Swink basketball

The Swink High School basketball teams will play three games over the next few days.

On Friday, the Lions and Lady Lions will host John Mall with the first game scheduled for 4 p.m. On Saturday, Swink will travel to Rocky Ford with basketball slated to begin at 2 p.m. On Tuesday, it will host Las Animas beginning at 4 p.m.

Cheraw basketball

The Cheraw High School basketball teams will play twice this week.

On Friday, the Wolverines and Lady Wolverines will host Manzanola beginning at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Cheraw will travel to Springfield with the first game scheduled for 2 p.m.

Rocky Ford basketball

The Rocky Ford High School basketball teams will have two games spanning the next few days.

On Saturday. the Meloneers and Lady Meloneers will host Swink with the first game to begin at 2 p.m. On Tuesday, Rocky will play at Swallows Charter Academy with basketball slated to start at 4 p.m.

Fowler basketball

The Fowler High School basketball teams will play only once this week.

Today, the Grizzlies and Lady Grizzlies will host Swallows Charter Academy beginning at 4 p.m.

Manzanola basketball

The Manzanola High School basketball teams will have three games over the next few days.

On Friday, the Bobcats and Lady Bobcats will play at Cheraw with the first game to begin at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Manzy will host Centennial (San Luis) beginning at 1 p.m., and on Saturday, it will be in Colorado Springs to play Pikes Peak Christian beginning at 5 p.m.

Las Animas basketball

The Las Animas basketball teams will play three times covering the next few days.

On Friday, the Trojans and Lady Trojans will host Hoehne beginning at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Las Animas will play at Simla with the first game to begin at 2 p.m., and on Tuesday, it will be at Swink for a 4 p.m. start time.

McClave basketball

The McClave High School basketball teams will play a pair of games this week.

Today, the Cardinals and Lady Cardinals will play at Cheyenne Wells with the first game to begin at 4 p.m. On Saturday, McClave will host Walsh also beginning at 4 p.m.

Crowley County basketball

The Crowley County basketball teams will have three games over the next few days.

Today, the Chargers and Lady Chargers will play at Hoehne beginning at 4 p.m. On Friday, they will host Vanguard with a 4 p.m. start time, and on Tuesday, Crowley County will host John Mall with the first game to begin at 4 p.m.

Kim/Branson basketball

The Kim/Branson co-op basketball teams will have two contests this week.

Today, the Mustangs and Lady Mustangs will host Granada at 3:30 p.m., and on Saturday, they will host South Baca with a 4 p.m. start time.

Wrestling

Almost all of the local wrestling teams will be in action in the final action of the regular season this week.

La Junta will be at a quad meet at John Mall on Friday and then the Tigers will head to Buena Vista for the Tri-Peaks League meet on Saturday.

Rocky Ford will travel to Colorado Springs for a dual meet with Mesa Ridge on Friday.

Crowley County will host its annual tournament on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. Also at this tournament are County Line and Las Animas.

Fowler and Swink will be off this week.

Arkansas Valley girls' swimming and diving

Members of the Arkansas Valley girls' swimming and diving team will have one last chance to qualify for the Class 3A State Meet as the Lady Tigers will compete at the Tri-Peaks League meet. The meet will take place today and Friday at the Colorado College Natatorium.
