Three of the local high school track and field programs competed at the Eighth Annual La Junta Open, which took place Thursday, March 29 at Tiger Stadium.

Las Animas

Las Animas tied for 22nd in the boys’ meet with three points. The Trojans’ sole placer was Gabe DeVargas, who was sixth in the 800 in 2:18.95.

The Lady Trojans did not place.

McClave

McClave was 18th in the girls’ meet with 15 points. Placing for the Lady Cardinals were Gentry Martin, who was third in the 200 in 29.94, Shalea Watts, who was fourth in the 400 in 1:06.22, and Makenzie Watts, who was seventh in the shot put at 31-9 1/2.

The McClave girls were also seventh in the 4x400 in 4:57.95.

McClave did not place in the boys’ meet.

Kim/Branson

The Kim/Branson co-op girls team tied for 16th with 16 points. Zariah Mason won the 100 in 12.90 and the Lady Mustangs were third in the 4x100 in 53.99.

The Kim/Branson boys did not place.
