A night for good eats and pickin’ ’n’ grinnin’

It was old timers’ weekend in Southeastern Colorado, with the Boggsville Days going full swing just outside Las Animas and the Otero Museum Chuckwagon Dinner serving up the ham and beans and beef stew, topped off by the Higbee Get Together Club homemade pies.

The Otero Museum has only two fund-raisers a year, the Chuckwagon Dinner in the fall and the Wine Tasting in the spring, but these two events are so popular the museum is almost self-supporting. This year, you could just pay your $10 at the door, no reservations necessary, and it looked like the biggest event ever.

The band added enjoyment to the meal and music for dancing afterward. From “Way Down Yonder in the Indian Nation” to “Crazy” (the best western dance song ever), they were terrific. Larry Hall’s Delhi Desperados were on the air.
