In brief

Flow right starts apprentice program

Flow Right Plumbing, Heating & Cooling will launch a state-recognized apprenticeship program next year. A kick-off celebration for the program is set for 7:30 a.m. Jan. 9 at the company's offices at 2406 W. 11th St.

The program will provide participants the training necessary to obtain their Colorado state license in plumbing or status as a journeyman HVAC professional.

The program is registered with the state Department of Labor.

"Flow Right is very excited to provide this opportunity to our community and give future generations a career path into the trades," the company said in a statement.

"Our apprenticeship program coupled with our recently launched internship program provides a viable option for the youth of our community to launch themselves into a lucrative career in order for them to best provide for their families and contribute to a successful community."

ACA insurance late enrollment

The deadline for Affordable Care Act insurance coverage beginning Jan. 1 passed last weekend but Colorado continues to allow enrollment for coverage to begin in February.

The sign-up deadline is Jan. 15.

“As a state-based health insurance marketplace, we are able to adjust our operations to best meet the needs of the residents of our state,” Kevin Patterson, chief executive of Connect for Health Colorado, said in a statement. “This year, that has meant introducing a streamlined process for obtaining financial help, improving our online tool for choosing a health plan and extending the enrollment period beyond the holidays.”

More than 156,000 Coloradans selected ACA insurance coverage for 2019 by the initial Dec. 15 deadline, an increase of 5 percent from a year ago, Connect for Health Colorado said.
