Why are you running for school board?
I am running for school board to be a part of the process that decides the future for our children.
What experience do you bring to the position?
I have worked for federal and state agencies and understand budget concerns, and working relationships with employees.
What do you feel are major issues facing the board?
Major issues are budget, programs, and quality teacher retention.
How will you address the issues?
I believe in listening to the people who elected me, researching the issue and trying to make the best decision possible.
Do you support a four day or five day school week?
This is a hard issue, I do not have all the information at this time to say yes or no, that input from the community at all levels is important.
What are your feelings about the new community center?
A community center is a great way for children of all ages to interact, teach, and learn and have fun.
What would you do to improve CSAP scores in the district?
I would have to research this subject and gather information from the teachers and administrators, come up with a plan and then implement it.
What would you do to balance the budget?
Closely look at each area of expenditures and find ways to cut waste without compromising the students’ education.
How would you encourage teachers to stay in the district?
Find ways to entice them to stay.
What needs to be done to improve student achievement?
This is a hard question for a simple answer; it takes community and parent involvement, focus on the basics, accelerated learning, and keeping the students motivated.
