September 4

12:46, 12:52, 12:55, 12:57 and 1 p.m., red tags were given at residences in the 200 block of Garfield Ave., 000 block of E. Fifth Street, 200 block of E. Fifth Street and 100 block of E. Sixth Street, for weeds.
1:04 p.m. Traffic accident- a semi pulled down lines and pole at Las Animas High School


September 5
1:39 a.m., Disturbance in progress at the Long Branch Saloon. Bar was closed and patrons were sent home

2:42 a.m., Theft: report of a cell phone stolen at Loaf N’Jug

7:48 p.m. Civil problem/trespass in the 500 block of Moore Avenue. Person left and was warned not to return

8:10 p.m. Civil problem/trespass in the 500 block of Moore Avenue. Person picked up and transported to jail, then RESADA

10:47 p.m. Be on the lookout:Out of jurisdiction traffic complaint/ for a vehicle traveling towards Las Animas. Vehicle contacted and driver warned. No complaint filed.

September 6
2:45 a.m. Other agency assist: noise complaint at Cottonwood Trailer Park/ subject contacted

3:30 a.m. Theft report: 400 block of Cottonwood. Items were located on scene by officer

9:48 a.m. Unwanted party: 500 block of Moore Avenue. Suspect left area before arrival of officers

10:08 a.m. Animal call: report of three dogs at large. Animals left area before officer arrived. No contact was made

11:57 a.m. Burglary: medications reported stolen from home

1:22 p.m. Animal call: 600 block of Sixth Street a snake was reported in the yard. Officers removed the snake

3:35 p.m. Animal welfare call: 600 block of Lois Avenue, the owner was contacted and told to get proper shelter for dog.

8:58 p.m. Report of a child hiding behind Jerry’s Liquor: Officer checked the area but found no one

September 7
8:41 a.m. Unwanted party: 600 block of Moore Avenue. Person was not at the location when officers arrived
9:40 a.m. Animal call: 700 block of Vine Avenue, dog loose/owner located
10:32 a.m. Animal call: 700 block of Carson Avenue, dog loose/picked up and placed in shelter

10:43 a.m. Officer at shelter to show dogs

1:03 p.m. Animal call: dog/owner located returned

2:15 p.m. Animal call: unable to contact animal

2:15 p.m. Animal call: dog at large, report animal left area

September 8

8:05 a.m. Possible arson: 600 block of Locust Avenue – attempted to burn vehicle/CBI contacted to assist with investigation

9:36 a.m. Possible arson: 400 block of St. Vrain Avenue – tree burned

10:14 a.m. Follow up investigation: 600 block of Locust Avenue

11:20 a.m. Officer out at the Animal Shelter to release dog to owner

1:50 p.m. Bike license issued

6:08 p.m. Report of suspicious person: 600 block of Sixth Street/not located

7:58 p.m. Other Agency Assist: Bent County Sheriff’s Office at Cottonwood Trailer Court disturbance in progress/separated subjects and turned over to Bent County Deputy

8:30 p.m. Suspicious incident: Gas can found by Department of Social Services

9:45 p.m. Report of suspicious vehicle: 500 block of Garfield Avenue. Vehicle left before officers arrived.

10:25 p.m. – 2:34 a.m. 102 business and security checks

September 10
2:35 a.m. Other Agency Assist: Bent County Sheriff’s Office 1300 block of Grand Avenue: back up county officer on possible domestic violence

7:50 a.m. Animal call: dog loose at Western Convenience. No dog found

9:53 a.m. Animal call: dog loose on Garfield Avenue by the railroad tracks/ dog placed in shelter

11:35 a.m. Animal call: dog at the LEAS/picked up and placed in shelter

12:56 p.m. Report of problems with another individual in the 500 block of Garfield Avenue

5:03 p.m. Animal call: stray dog in the 700 block of Vine Avenue/picked up and placed in shelter

10:25 p.m. Suspicious person: 500 block of Maple/not located

September 11

12:58 a.m. Noise complaint in the area of Second Street and Elm Avenue/Contacted party to turn the music down. Complied

2:35 a.m. North end of town full of smoke/found dump burning, causing smoke
