Students show American pride

Each morning, 5th-grader Michael Jimenez and 1st-graders Carmen Martinez and Zeke Trujillo help custodian Frank Maes raise the flag at LAES.  On Zeke’s application, he stated that he would like to be flag raiser because he is “proud to be an American.”

As part of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support at Las Animas Elementary School, we have nearly 30 student employees. Students applied for a variety of positions including flag raiser, cafeteria monitor, hall monitor, assembly assistant, office assistant, pencil sharpener and more.

Applications were reviewed by staff members and jobs were filled based on the students’ desire to show PRIDE.
