Effective immediately, Prowers Medical Center has suspended the temporary ban on patient visitation at the hospital.

Like many hospitals across the nation, Prowers Medical Center monitored the progression of H1N1 influenza in our community and took extra precautions to prepare for the possibility of providing care for people infected with this strain of flu.

Following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, as well as our own infection control procedures we were able to implement measures that helped to protect our patients, staff and hospital visitors.  This included guidelines on implementing a temporary restriction of visitors on our Patient Care Units.

The influenza pandemic activity is approaching low levels throughout the state and appears to have passed us by in our surrounding area.  Therefore, we have lifted the Visitor Restrictions.
Prowers Medical Center staff will continue to monitor for illnesses and may screen visitors if they appear to have some form of respiratory infection symptoms such as fever, cough, or sore throat.
The hospital has provided many hand and respiratory hygiene stations throughout the facility.  Visitors are encouraged to continue utilizing the alcohol-based hand sanitizer and masks being made available at these stations prior to entering and upon leaving a patient’s room as a continued precaution.  Persons who are ill will not be allowed to visit patients and will be encouraged to leave the facility to prevent the risk of spreading their illness.
