On Sunday afternoon, Dec. 11, five new inductees, Rachelle Siefkas, Erica Lopez, Paige Ridley, Brian Likes, and Lucas Frausto, were welcomed into the Las Animas High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. President Asa Brown introduced the keynote speaker, Mr. Jim Rizzuto, President of Otero Junior College, who gave a wonderful speech that addressed the core values of NHS: scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Other current members of NHS include: Kelsey Thaxton, Kayla Snead, Lucas Collins, Caitlin Johnson, Brittany Fritz, Justice Pryor, Beth Myers, Carrie Dean, Ariel Montoya, and Becky Simmons. True Blue served refreshments after the ceremony. Sponsors are Mrs. Diana Bender and Mr. Jim Collins.
