The annual fireworks display put on by the Las Animas Volunteer Fire Department has been approved for this year, according to Jim Pryor, fire chief. The event, beginning at dusk, will take place at the Jack La Salle football field on July 4.
The firemen will drive up and down the streets on Thursday, June 30 and Friday, July 1 to collect monetary donations for fireworks.
Representatives of the Bent County Food Endeavor and Helping Hands will be at the football field during the fireworks to accept donations of canned goods for those organizations.
