Julia Gonzales, 84, of 234 Grand Ave., Las Animas, died at her residence on Jan. 9, 2010.
She was born Jan. 7, 1926, in Las Animas to Jose Estrada, Sr. and Engracia (Alvarez) Estrada.
She was employed by the Peninsula Rehabilitation Center in Lomita, Calif., for 29 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, “Barney” Bonificio Gonzales of Las Animas; one daughter, Iolanaa Kalauai of Las Animas; one brother, Art Estrada of Santa Fe, N.M.; three sisters, Sheila Zavala of San Pedro, Calif., Ortencia Madson of Carson, Calif., Mary Anne Jones of Los Lunas, N.M.; and one grandson, Torrence Moore III.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Esperanza and Elicia and brothers, Joe, Rudy, Phil, and Danny Estrada and Modesto Marquez.
Rosary service was at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan 12 with Mass of Commendation at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Grimes as celebrant.
Burial was in the Las Animas Cemetery with Horber Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
