Lena Catherine Taylor, 85, a former resident of Las Animas, died Nov. 18, 2009, in the Broomfield Nursing Home.

She was born June 19, 1924, in Yuma, Ariz., to James and Eula (Underwood) Alphin. She married Orville “Arkie” Taylor. He died Nov. 29, 1998. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Orville Don (Nita) Taylor of Waco, Texas; one daughter, Barbara T. (Don) Watts of Denver; two grandchildren, Robin Trainor and Jody Ray.

Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 23 at the Fort Lyon National Cemetery with Glen Trainor officiating.

Kent Reyher sang, “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder” and “Beyond The Sunset.”

Casket bearers were Donnie Taylor, Jody Taylor, Aaron Trainor, Kenny Niswonger, Josh Niswonger and Joe Niswonger.

Horber Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Those wishing to do so may make memorials to Exempla Hospice Lutheran Collier Hospital.
