John Suaso, 81, who had lived in Las Animas for 37 years, died Jan. 13, 2010, at the Denver VA Hospital. He was a resident at Prairie View Village Assisted Living.

He was born Jan. 31, 1928, in Trinidad to Socorro and Madeline (Rael) Suazo. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by a brother, Leroy Suazo of Colorado Springs and a sister, Dolly Dolores Yepez of Trinidad.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Grimes as celebrant. Music was provided by Diane Spano.

Burial was in the Fort Lyon National Cemetery with military honors by the Air Force Honor Guard.
Horber Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
