Dear Editor:
A few weeks ago the Bent County Democrat ran an article covering the Las Animas School District board meeting. I have to say I was a bit angry when I read about the administration’s raises. The article was misleading to the taxpayer.

The following are the correct figures for the salaries and benefits that our small community is paying with the three percent increase they received:

    Superintendent: $122,979.
    Elementary principal: $94,946.
    Secondary principal: $77,340.

Two of whom don’t even live in the community. It saddens me to think that as a community we re allowing this. I want to thank Jace Ratzlaff for having the courage to say enough is enough. There are many of us that appreciate his “no” vote on the salary increase.
