On Sept. 2, three local mixed martial arts fighters, Gabe Gonzales of Las Animas, Leo Quintero of La junta and Ray Orosco of La Junta, will be traveling to Las Vegas, Nev. to fight in an MMA fight card.
The fights will take place on Sept. 4 with weigh-ins taking place the day before the fight on Sept. 3.
All three fighters practice in Las Animas and represent Alvidrez Combat Grappling.
"All three of them have been representing ACG for a long time and I am definitely excited to see them fight in Las Vegas," said coach Teo Alvidrez.
Gonzales (2-3) will be taking on Alex Brooks (2-1) a striker out of Las Vegas in the 145 lbs. divison. This will be Gonzales' second fight in Las Vegas. Gonzalez lost his first fight in Las Vegas by submission to Chris Holdsworth.
"Gonzales has been training hard for this fight and is looking to get a win and get back into the 145 lbs. division as a contender in Colorado," said Alvidrez.
Quintero (0-3) will be taking on Marcus Dalton (1-1) a boxer out of Las Vegas. Quintero will be making his return to the cage after a year long absence from the MMA scene. Quintero is hungry to prove that he belongs in the cage and is looking for his first career victory.
"We would like to see him get a win by submission, that would put a feather in his cap," said Alvidrez.
Orosco (0-2) will be taking on Randy Albright (0-1) a grappler out of Texas in the 145 lbs. division. Orosco heads to Las Vegas looking to earn his first career victory. Orosco has been focusing on his jiu-jitsu training to help him become a well rounded fighter.
"We know he's got what it takes if he just dedicates himself to training," said Alvidrez.
