A long, tough season was made longer Friday night in Granada when the 1-4 Bobcats pasted McClave 50-22. It dropped the Cardinals to 0-6 on the year and 0-3 in Ark Valley League play. McClave faces a must win Friday night at home against Springfield, if it wants to be part of intra-divisional play three weeks away. The Cards have never failed to make the intra-divisional playoffs since they began five years ago.

This one was over early, as the Bobcats returned the opening kickoff 66 yards for a touchdown. Granada would scored three unanswered touchdowns in the first quarter alone, as they build an insurmountable 24-0 lead after just the opening quarter of play.

From that point on, play was fairly even between the two teams but the damage had already been done. After building their lead to 31-0 at halftime, McClave would show some offense in the second half, scoring three times in the second half.

Running back Saxon Turner was again the only real offensive weapon the Cards had, as the hard running junior scored all three McClave touchdowns on the night. McClave scored first in the second half when Turner went in from 11 yards out. The Bobcats returned the favor scoring minutes later, as the lead stood at 39-6.

Turner scored again in the third quarter on a four yard plunge and then scored the two-point conversion for the Cards as well. Turner completed the Cards' scoring run in the second half when he hauled in a 46 yard pass from freshman quarterback Ashur Wiedrich in the fourth quarter. Turner would again finish the game with more than a 100 yards rushing.

The Cards will celebrate Homecoming Week with a showdown with Springfield on Friday night in McClave.
