Oliver John Alvarez, age 79, passed away peacefully, on Friday, September 16, 2022. He was born on September 6, 1943 to Oliver and Ruby Alvarez in Embudo, NM.

Johnny (OJ) graduated from Las Animas High School and attended Ontario Jr College.

He served in USAF for 23 yrs and retired from a second career with OSHA.

In his younger years, Johnny (OJ) enjoyed playing the saxophone, baseball, bowling, riding motorcycles, and in his retirement, traveling and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Moore; former spouse, Joyce Stephenson and their children, Shelley (Louis) Velez, Shawna Alvarez, and Sheri (Erick) Molina; step children, Stephen (Cynthia) Moore, Jeffrey (Nicole) Moore; brother, Thomas L Alvarez; sister, Regina Faye Alvarez; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held at Fort Lyon National Cemetery on Monday October 17 at 11:30am followed by a Celebration Of Life at the VFW in Las Animas.
