A busy week of play resulted in a 2-1 outcome for the Las Animas High School volleyball who improved their overall season record to 4-3 and stayed even in Santa Fe league play at 3-3.

A busy week of play resulted in a 2-1 outcome for the Las Animas High School volleyball who improved their overall season record to 4-3 and stayed even in Santa Fe league play at 3-3.

LAHS opened the week's play last Tuesday against rival Crowley County High School (2-6) whom they defeated in straight sets, 25-23, 25-15, 26-24.

Junior Sahara Snead led the charge for the Trojans, amassing six kills and four blocks in the winning effort. Bailey Huffman added five kills and two blocks, and Zoiee Stwalley three kills and one block. Cara Miller added five ace serves and one block and Ashlie Stwalley three ace serves.

Last Thursday, LAHS took on undefeated and state second ranked Swink High School (8-0) falling in straight sets, 25-18, 25-17, 25-16. Stats were not available as of press time.

Finally, in Saturday's contest against Wiley, LAHS rebounded to win once again in straight sets, taking the match, 25-21, 25-18, 25-9.

Snead recorded seven kills and 18 blocks, Huffman six kills, three blocks and two ace serves, Sabrina Martinez three kills, Ashlie Stwalley three kills and one block, and Hailey Stwalley and Cara Miller two kills.

LAHS traveled to Fowler on Tuesday for yet another Santa Fe league match. LAHS was defeated by the Grizzlies in straight sets Sept. 2. The Trojans will travel to Hoehne today, Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m. LAHS was also defeated by Hoehne in straight sets to open the season Aug. 21.

The Trojans will travel to Trinidad Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. and to Rocky Ford Sept. 25 beginning at 5 p.m. LAHS will return home Sept. 27 against Rye beginning at 2 p.m.
