Shane Perryman earned placement into the prestigious Governor's Honors Program in Atlanta, Georgia, for 2014-15. The program is a prestigious four-week summer enrichment opportunity which takes place at the Atlanta Governor's Mansion. It was not an easy process to make it this far.
The finalists were nominated by faculty, had to demonstrate exceptional skill, creativity and outstanding knowledge in their area of nomination. In addition, strong academic achievement and social maturity were taken into consideration. Once nominated, the students had to go through a rigorous process of interviews and auditions to highlight their exceptional skills.
Perryman earned his placement into the program with his talent for jazz studies. He plays piano, bass guitar and specializes in trombone. He is a junior at Peachtree Ridge High School in Atlanta and has maintained a 4.0 grade average in all accelerated courses. He participates in the school jazz band, state honor band, is a founding member of the band Sterner, and plays keyboards for the band Dream Culture.
Shane, a former resident of Las Animas, is the son of Vanessa Tyscka of Atlanta. He is the grandson of Diann and Gary Tyscka, nephew of Jennifer and Roger Tyscka and Gary Tyscka, and the great-grandson of Orlando and Lucy Garcia, all of Las Animas.
