Need something to do this weekend? Check out these local events

1. Party at the Plaza

Grab something to eat, drink and catch some live music by October Skies at the Santa Fe Plaza in La Junta, Colo. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and music starts at 5 p.m. tonight (Friday, June 12). Tickets are $5 per show and kids 12 and under are free. Proceeds will benefit the John Fisher Hose Company Firework Show. Event is sponsored by the La Junta Chamber of Commerce.

2. It's time for a Barn Dance

Clean Valley Recycling, which was recently honored as a top recycling site, is hosting a Barn Dance Saturday at 8 p.m. at the old Swink Sugar Factory in Swink. It's an opportunity to support the recycling program and check out the digs.

3. Celebrate Flag Day

In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. That's this Sunday. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. (Wikipedia) This weekend is a good time to replace your flags or display a flag. You can find flags of different sizes at your local hardware stores in La Junta, Rocky Ford and Fowler, as well as big box stores in the area.
