The Las Animas Trofins finished third overall at the George McLachlin Memorial Pentathlon last Saturday at the Lamar swimming pool with 712 team points.



LAMAR — The Las Animas Trofins finished third overall at the George McLachlin Memorial Pentathlon last Saturday at the Lamar swimming pool with 712 team points.

The Lamarlins won the meet with 2,262 points. The La Junta Tiger Sharks finished second as a team with 726 points.

Grace Gardner took home honors as an individual champion for the Trofins, winning the girls' 9-10-year-old division.

Other Las Animas place winners included Cody Netherton, who was second in the boys' 8-and-younger, Calista Trujillo, who was third in the girls' 8-and-younger, Addilinn Gauna, who was fourth in the girls' 9-10, Kevin Dowell, who was fourth in the boys' 11-12, Alexis Trujillo, who was fifth in the girls' 9-10, Morgan Dowell, who was sixth in the girls' 11-12, Mario Martinez, who was sixth in the boys' 13-14 and Maddie Stuart, who was ninth in the girls' 9-10.

The Rocky Ford Blue Marlins finished in fourth place with 550 points. Kieren Harris was also an individual champion as she won the girls' 8-and-younger division.

Rounding out the team scoring were Sky Hi Aquatics from Alamosa with 376, the Canon City Piranhas with 214 and the Pueblo West Swim Club with 184.
