The Las Animas Trojans took to the gridiron on Friday night against a consistent Haxtun team. The teams, while evenly matched on paper, were disproportionately advantaged when they took the field.

The Trojans, stronger in numbers than they have been in the past few years, took the field with high hopes of an exciting season. Haxtun, however, had a different idea.

In the first quarter, the Trojans gave up 42 points, and remained scoreless the entire game.

Haxtun went on to score 14 points in the second quarter, seven in the third quarter and six in the fourth to roll to a 69-0 victory.

Highlights came from Caylan Garcia taking snaps and launching 15-20 yard passes to Diego Hernandez and Jeremiah Skinner. Neither of these passes resulted in a score.

This week the Trojans travel to Fowler to face the Grizzlies. The Trojans take the field at 7 p.m.
