The University of Colorado today named Micah Espinoza as regional program manager for CU in southern Colorado to solidify its commitment to partnerships, programs and people in the region. “Outreach and engagement are priorities for the Board of Regents and for me, so I am thrilled Micah will be an ongoing staff presence in communities and representing the University of Colorado,” said CU President Todd Saliman.
When asked to propose innovative drought resilience projects last fall, Colorado farmers and ranchers stepped up. Thirty projects distributed across the state have been selected to receive financial and technical support with funding the Colorado Agricultural Water Alliance (CAWA) obtained from the Colorado Water Conservation Board and private donors.
Ben Berlinger received the 2023 Society for Range Management Fellow Award at the Society’s 76 th Annual Meeting in Boise, Idaho earlier this February. The title of Fellow is conferred upon members of the Society for Range Management (SRM) in recognition of exceptional service to the Society and its programs in advancing the science and art of range-related resource management. This high honor is granted in the belief that special recognition should be given for exceptional and dedicated service to the Society.

Colorado high school students Jedadiah Ballard, Chrisily Furia, and Elaine Shannon were selected by the Colorado Section of the Society for Range Management (SRM) to participate in the High School Youth Forum (HSYF), an SRM sponsored youth activity held jointly during the 76th SRM annual meeting held in Boise, Idaho on February 12-16, 2023.

The idea of being idolized by a younger generation isn’t something Yliani Garcia is necessarily comfortable with, but she’s come to understand that’s the attention that comes with being a trendsetter. “Littel girls, a lot younger than me, come up to me and give me high fives and tell me they want to be like me,” said Garcia.
