Dol Bhattarai grew up in the mountainous regions of Syangja, Nepal. He ran away to India at the age of 12. He traveled to many locations around the planet until he eventually found himself in Manhattan, New York, with only a travel visa, a fourth-grade education, and a meager 20 dollars in his pocket. But with hard work and determination, he became a widely successful restaurateur, business owner of various properties, a philanthropist, and owner of his newest location of his Yak & Yeti restaurants in La Junta.

Lunch & Learn Series and International Foods Night Coming This Fall

A community favorite is gearing up for another season! The International Relations Office at Otero College will launch the 2022/23 series of Lunch & Learn presentations on Wed., Sept. 7, 2022. Held in the Learning Commons on the Otero Campus, the mid-day discussions are designed for students, staff, faculty, and community members to take their lunch breaks together to learn about a different culture. Otero international students from around the globe will take turns hosting the monthly conversations about their home countries.

LA Travel visits the East Coast

From June 6 to June 17, a group of nine students and two sponsors from Las Animas traveled to the East Coast of the United States to see any and all sights, sounds, and experiences. The trip, a part of LA Travel, was the fourth tour taken by the group and highlighted by Boston, Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington DC.
