BNSF upgrades track between La Junta, southwest Kansas
Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad worked with the Colorado and Kansas departments of transportation and Amtrak on a track project. BNSF shared it made progress on the project located on its La Junta Subdivision in southeast Colorado and southwest Kansas. Crews worked to upgrade 130 miles of track from jointed rail to continuous welded rail. CWR allows for a smoother ride and less delays, says BNSF. Amtrak’s Southwest Chief travels the line daily. BNSF funding and grants made the project possible.
