The Arkansas Valley Fair added another chapter to its long history Wednesday morning as community members gathered to celebrate one of its most cherished traditions: the crowning of the Silver King and Silver Queen. On Monday, Aug. 11, the La Junta Police Department announced that they were investigating a shooting from the night prior, Aug. 10, 2 minutes before midnight, which left one person hospitalized with a gunshot wound.
The Bent County Sheriff’s Office announced that on the early morning of Sunday Aug. 10, at around 5: 30 a.m., deputies responded to a “solo vehicle collision” on the intersection of Third street and Bent Ave. in Las Animas.
On the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 8 at around noon, the La Junta Police Department responded to a shooting on the 500 block of Bradish Ave, where officers discovered a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds, which shortly after ended his life, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigations.
On Aug. 2, at around 3:30 p.m., the Otero County Sheriff’s Office announced that Ryanna Rangel was wanted as a suspect for a stabbing that occurred earlier that day.
