Fire destroys popcorn factory in Rocky Ford
A massive fire broke out at a structure commonly referred to as “the old popcorn factory” one block south of Highway 50 on 12th Street in Rocky Ford on Sunday evening, devastating the long-abandoned building and sending plumes of thick smoke into the sky.The blaze, which began shortly after 6 p.m., quickly engulfed the structure, drawing the attention of nearby residents and prompting an extensive emergency response.Multiple fire departments from surrounding areas, including Rocky Ford, La Junta, and Manzanola, responded to the scene.
