The Bureau of Reclamation awarded the inaugural contract of the Arkansas Valley Conduit (AVC) to WCA Construction LLC, for $42,988,099.79. This contract funds construction of the first Boone Reach trunk line section, a 6-mile stretch of pipeline that extends from the eastern end of Pueblo Water’s system toward Boone, Colorado.

The six sessions will be held at Tri-County Family Care Center, 512 ½ N Main St, Rocky Ford, 5:30 to 7:30 pm with Bea Jae Viescas as presenter. The information during the free classes will cover parenting for all ages of children. It’s never too late for parents to begin using proven parenting techniques regardless of whether the family has a teenager or a toddler. Of course, the best time to start using Partners in Parenting is before the infant can walk. Our experience indicates that the time to apply the techniques is when a child is 8 - 9 months of age. Kyle Herring has been named as the new Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Otero College for the 22-23 season. Herring has over ten years of experience coaching at the college level.
The U.S. Drought Monitor shows drought conditions across Colorado and the Arkansas River Basin almost identical to a week ago, with most of the Ark Basin drought-free or abnormally dry. The Drought Monitor report does not reflect precipitation from the most recent weather system that brought rain to the entire basin.
On Monday, September 9, OCLI (Otero County Landfill Inc) approved their two-year phase during their regular meeting, which increased their fees across the board for the calendar year 2023. OCLI board member Danny Chavez, after the meeting concluded, told the La Junta Tribune-Democrat, “I feel this is a good compromise…We’re going to break it up over two years.”
