The Bent County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday, Aug. 27, that they opened an investigation into an alleged explosion in Las Animas.
On Aug. 30, the Colorado Bureau of Investigations, CBI, announced that they had, alongside the La Junta Police Department, discovered around 143 grams of fentanyl, about 1,430 pills, following a search warrant at a La Junta house on Aug. 29, after receiving intelligence and leads linking the residence to criminal activity.

A La Junta man wanted in connection with an attempted homicide was taken into custody Thursday evening after a tense four-hour standoff in Colorado Springs.
