On the afternoon of Sep tember 7, 2022, Kenneth “Ken” Luke Garcia passed away peacefully at Columbine Manor Care Center in Salida, CO. He spent his final years near his older brother and was visited often by family and friends.
Oliver John Alvarez, age 79, passed away peacefully, on Friday, September 16, 2022. He was born on September 6, 1943 to Oliver and Ruby Alvarez in Embudo, NM. Johnny (OJ) graduated from Las Animas High School and attended Ontario Jr College. He served in USAF for 23 yrs and retired from a second career with OSHA. In his younger years, Johnny (OJ) enjoyed playing the saxophone, baseball, bowling, riding motorcycles, and in his retirement, traveling and playing golf. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Moore; former spouse, Joyce Stephenson and their children, Shelley (Louis) Velez, Shawna Alvarez, and Sheri (Erick) Molina; step children, Stephen (Cynthia) Moore, Jeffrey (Nicole) Moore; brother, Thomas L Alvarez; sister, Regina Faye Alvarez; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at Fort Lyon National Cemetery on Monday October 17 at 11:30am followed by a Celebration Of Life at the VFW in Las Animas. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to one of his favorite charities. Wounded Warriers or the VFW.

A memorial service for Joseph Seamon will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church in Las Animas, Colorado with Rev. Charles Johnson-Kelly officiating. Per Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Joseph Vernon Seamon, affectionately known as Joe, was born on September 15, 1926 at Fort Lyon, Colorado to Ernest Vernon and Laura Louise (McLean) Seamon. Joe passed away on September 22, 2022 at his home in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 96. Joe graduated Las Animas High School in 1944. After graduation, He joined the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. He then attended Colorado A&M from 1946 until 1948. Upon returning to Las Animas in 1948, he went to work at Fort Lyon V.A. Hospital. On October 8, 1950 he was united in marriage to Clara Rose Johannes. To this union, they were blessed with five children. Joe decided to return to school in Greeley in 1952 and in 1954, he received his B.A. in Physical Education, History, and Health. He returned to Las Animas and again went to work at Fort Lyon as a corrective therapist until retiring in 1984. Joe devoted a total of 35 years to Fort Lyon V.A. Hospital. Joe also spent 26 years in the National Guard, retiring as an E-8. He was the local Scout Master for a period of 13 years, during which his three boys went through the Scout program. Joe was a member of the First Presbyterian Church from 1963 until his passing. He served on all of the church boards over a span of 20+ years. Joe is survived by three sons, Joseph Michael (Victoria) Seamon of Windsor, Colorado, Gary Lee Seamon of Las Animas, Colorado, and Stephen Philip Seamon of Gainesville, Georgia; two daughters, Laura Lynne Seamon-McLean of Durango, Colorado and Diana Cheryl (Michael) Anglin of Colorado City, Colorado; five grandchildren, Zachary Bono, Jason (Kacie) Anglin, Phillip Anglin (Megan Johnson), Sara Ann (Daniel) Hughes, Michael J. Seamon (Mckenzie Lampe); five great grandchildren
Las Animas - Dale Kesterson, 94, passed away peacefully at the Bent County Healthcare Center in Las Animas on September 17, 2022. Dale was born April 27, 1928 at the Kesterson family farm 6 miles southeast of Fowler, Colorado to Roy and Dorothy Kesterson.

She was born October 24, 1970, to Robert and Bonnie Hoffman and attended grade school through high school in Las Animas, Colo. where she graduated as co-valedictorian in May 1989.
He was born on November 9, 1929 in Las Animas, CO to Emilio Jerry and Sophie Lopez. He married Margaret Lopez on October 14, 1950 in Raton, NM.
A Graveside Memorial Service for Hasty, Colorado resident, Earl Munsell will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Union Valley Cemetery in Hasty. Per Earl’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
