Four Las Animas High School basketball players earned Santa Fe League All-Conference honors, recognition awarded to the top players throughout the 2022-2023 season. Two girls and two boys earned the top honor for the Trojans.
On the heels of an amazing season that ended with a Region 9 championship win and a trip to the national tournament, the Otero College Men’s Soccer team will welcome a new head coach, Matthew Miller.
The Trojan Track and Field squad traveled to Rye this week for the annual Thunderbolt Invitational. The Trojans amassed 10 personal bests while five Trojan or Lady Trojan events placed in the top 10.
The Las Animas Trojan Track and Field squad traveled back to the Ray Headley complex in Swink on Friday for the Santa Fe League meet. The meet is the smallest the Trojans will compete in all year with only nine teams.
The La Junta Seniors Golf League begins on Tuesday April 18, 2023. This league invites men and women golfers 55 years of age and older. (Note: anyone who has previously played in the league that is under 55, but older than 50, is “grandfathered” in and will be allowed to participate.) Registration for play will be from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. on the porch of the restaurant at the golf course. Golfing will begin around 10:00 a.m. (These times will be earlier as the stability of the weather and temperatures improve.)
The Las Animas Trojan Track and Field Squad traveled to two invitationals this week. On Friday they loaded up and headed to Swink for the annual Ray Headley Invitational, and then on Saturday went to the Thunder Storm Invitational at CSU-Pueblo.
The Las Animas Trojans had a two scheduled matches on the diamond this week: Dolores Huerta Prep and Fowler. But due to roster issues, the game in Pueblo against DHPH was canceled, and they only traveled to Fowler for a double header on Saturday.
