On Saturday, the Las Animas Trojan Track and Field Squad traveled to Limon for the Kiowa Klassic. The meet, typically held in Elbert, was relocated due to issues with the Elbert field.
The Las Animas Trojans split their games this week as they hosted both Custer County and Holly at Sonny Smith Field. On Wednesday, the Trojans hosted the Custer County Bobcats.

This past weekend, if you drove by the ball fields, you probably saw a lot of baseball action on both the south field and Sonny Smith Field as the Trojans hosted the annual LA Invite Tournament. The tournament is a round robin that guarantees each team three games over two days. The tourney hosted the Trojans, Peyton, Swink, Trinidad, Calhan, Centauri, and others.
At the start of 2023, the Yak & Yeti of La Junta mysteriously closed its doors. The official website of the local restaurant changed its address to Hawaii, with the owner Dol Bhattarai purchasing another restaurant called Kamana Kitchen and revamped it to become another link in his chain of Yak & Yeti locations. However, Owner Dol Bhattarai’s Spokesperson, Mathew Baxter, contacted the La Junta Tribune-Democrat to inform us that the restaurant will return, even if it’s only seasonal.
