The Colorado High School Activities Association, in conjunction with the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO) hosted the inaugural Officiate Colorado Day Saturday, July 30, in Westminster. The event was years in the making, originating from the late CHSAA Associate Commissioner overseeing officials, Tom Robinson.

Otero College The Otero Athletics Department is pleased to announcethatBrandon Coates has been selected as Otero College’s new Head Wrestling Coach and will begin his duties on July 25. Coates comes to Otero after coaching wrestling at La Junta High School for the past 16 years, the last nine of those years as head coach.

High school baseball players and coaches will be permitted to wear jewelry in 2023 after the NFHS Baseball Rules Committee voted to remove its prohibition from the rules. Previously, only medical and religious medals were permitted by rule.
On June 3, 2022 the North vs. South Senior Elite All State game played out on the field of Gilpin County High School, just outside of Black Hawk. The field’s landscape is not one to forget. The Crowley County Chargers met Soroco High School on a mid-meeting demographic earlier this fall. The terrain is gorgeous, with a large hill on one sideline and a down slope on the other, turf surpassing on the 100 yard quarters.
The Colorado High School Activities Association has named Bethany Brookens to be the next associate commissioner of the Association. Brookens’ appointment to the associate commissioner position was made by incoming CHSAA commissioner Mike Krueger and will begin effective immediately.
