The Las Animas High School track and field team competed in their final pre-state tournament meet Friday evening at the Friday Night Lights Cyclone Inivtational at Pueblo West High School. The best finish came by way of the boy’s 4x200 meter relay, which finished fourth with a time of 1:36.32.

Shadrach Chanvez was recognized for participating in four sports during the 2021-2022 season. Chavez participated in golf, football, basketball, and baseball.
It’s become almost customary within Santa Fe League play for opposing teams to split weekend doubleheaders, as was the case each of the past Saturdays, where LAHS split league games against Rocky Ford and County Line.

Las Animas played Crowley County to a split Saturday afternoon at Sonny Smith Field in Las Animas, the Trojans taking the opener, 12-2, and Crowley County stealing game two, 11-8. The Trojans move to 8-6 on the season, despite a 2-4 Santa Fe League record, highlighted to date by stretches against top tier league opponents.
