The Las Animas High School boys’ basketball team finds themselves in a bit of a slump following their most recent Santa Fe League contests, where they’ve lost four consecutive games. LAHS suffered their first loss of the week last Tuesday against league leading Holly, 55-44, and fell to Swallows Charter Academy Thursday evening, 44-34, and Swink of Friday, 62-29.

Las Animas Grace Gardner, Emilia Metz, and Madison Huffman will all represent the Arkansas Valley swim team at the this week’s state championship meet in Denver. Each swimmer qualified for the meet either individually or as part of a relay team by virtue of clocking state qualifying marks at some point throughout the swim season.
The Las Animas High School boys’ basketball team came up just shy of victory Friday evening in Ordway, where they dropped a Santa Fe League match-up to the Chargers, 64-52. The Trojans gained the early momentum against Crowley County, pulling ahead in the first quarter 15-13.
The Las Animas High School girls’ basketball team went 2-1 in Santa Fe League play over the past week, improving their season record to 6-10 and bettering their league record to 3-7. LAHS dropped their first game of the week to Rocky Ford last Tuesday, 44-20, but answered with a dominant win over John Mall Friday, 63-8, and a gritty win over Crowley County Saturday, 36-33.
The Las Animas High School girls basketball team came up short in two games played over the weekend, falling to Rocky Ford and Fowler in Santa Fe League play. On Friday evening, LAHS came up short against Rocky Ford, 46-32.
Las Animas High School wrestling team went 1-1-1 as host of a quad meet Thursday evening in Las Animas. Crowley County proved the team to beat, as the Chargers claimed a 38-18 victory over John Mall, a 54-6 victory over Kiowa, and a 42-18 victory over the host Trojans.
The Las Anmas High School Boys basketball team broke a five game skid Friday night in Las Animas with a 44-32 victory over visiting Rocky Ford. The Trojans took control of the game early, allowing just two Meloneer points inthe opening frame.
