Jehovah’s Witnesses from across Colorado and the Southwest began gathering in Pueblo this week to participate in the church’s 2019 Global convention.

The convention spans six continents and more than 200 countries and this year’s message, “Love Never Fails,” will be presented in more than 400 languages.

The convention opened on Friday and runs through Sunday at the Southwest Motors Events Center at the Colorado State Fairgrounds. Projected attendance for the three-day event is 16,000.

“These events will illustrate the positive influence that love can have to bring people together from diverse backgrounds,” said Juan Lobato, a local representative for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “Local Jehovah’s Witnesses get an opportunity to meet and enjoy association with their fellow Witnesses, and the community here in Pueblo is happy to accommodate the influx of visitors.”

Friday’s session dealt with learning how love never fails. Participants learned how to strengthen love despite problems such as a troubled upbringing, chronic illness or poverty. The presentation was made through a series of short documentary videos.

Today’s session deals with Bible principles that are helping husbands, wives and children to show unfailing love for one another.

Sunday’s session will feature a public Bible discourse, “True Love in a Hate-Filled world — Where,” will make clear how showing love is helping millions of people worldwide to overcome prejudice and hatred.

Today and Sunday a feature film about the Bible character Josiah will be shown. The two-part feature film is titled “The Story of Josiah: Love Jehovah; Hate what is Bad.”

No collection is taken and the public is invited.

The program in Pueblo will be tied into one of seven larger international conventions held in the United States. These larger conventions will be hosting a total of 35,000 foreign delegates coming from 105 countries. Worldwide there are 22 major cities in 18 countries that have been selected to host international convention events. In total as many as 140,000 delegates will be traveling from numerous countries to attend these larger gatherings.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses have 8.5 million members worldwide from 240 countries. There are 119,954 congregations worldwide and peak attendance at meetings of Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide reached 20.3 million. The church celebrates its message in 975 languages.
